Founder's Story

David Mitchell, Chief Executive Officer, Guardian Care Inc.
As President and CEO of Guardian Care, my journey to serving Indiana's families is rooted in the values I learned growing up in Indianapolis. Raised in a close-knit family that still gathers weekly for Sunday dinners, I experienced firsthand the power of family bonds and the importance of caring for one another. These foundational experiences, along with my faith and commitment to service – including achieving the rank of Eagle Scout – shaped my vision for what would become one of Indiana's most innovative home care providers.
After earning my BS and MBA from Indiana University's Kelley School of Business, I spent years in the technology sector. While successful, I felt called to create something more meaningful – a company that would truly make a difference in people's lives. Drawing upon my business expertise, including Lean Six Sigma certification from Purdue University, I founded Guardian Care in 2021 with a mission to empower families caring for loved ones with complex medical needs.
What began as a small operation serving 30 clients has grown into a dynamic organization with hundreds of caregivers, serving families across all 92 Indiana counties. This remarkable growth stems from our unwavering commitment to advocacy, innovation, and personal support. As a father of four young children, I understand firsthand the delicate balance families face when caring for loved ones with complex medical needs.
This personal understanding drives our unique care management model, which goes beyond traditional home care services. We don't just provide care – we fight for our families, helping them navigate complex systems, utilize all benefits, and receive the compensation they deserve. In 2022, I established the Dream Work Foundation to further support our mission, providing home modifications and rent relief for families adjusting to complex care needs.
At Guardian Care, we believe that family caring for family is not just a choice – it's a calling that deserves recognition, support, and fair compensation. Our faith-based values guide us in creating innovative solutions, from our streamlined same-week onboarding process to our groundbreaking documentation programs that help families qualify for additional support hours.
When I'm not working alongside our incredible team or spending time with my wife and children enjoying outdoor activities like kayaking and cycling, you might find me leading Cub Scout activities or immersed in books about leadership and business innovation.
Our rapid growth and success are testament to a simple truth: when you combine genuine care with unwavering advocacy and innovative solutions, you can transform lives. As we continue to expand our services and impact, our commitment remains unchanged – to be a guardian for those who care for others, strengthening Indiana's families one relationship at a time.
